Savannah Chic creates distinctive Afro-inspired jewellery that can be worn just as easily on the style-savvy streets of London as it can whilst on safari in Africa.
Savannah Chic works hand in hand with skilled artisans and marginalised communities using local African and recycled materials. Based on the principles of fair trade, our model creates work, promotes entrepreneurship, and preserves traditional craftsmanship.
Meet Arusha.
Before she started working for Savannah Chic she had odd jobs as cleaning lady. One day there was a huge explosion near her house in Kangemi and Arusha lost her hearing. She was no longer able to do the odd jobs she had been doing and was introduced to us by another artisan who lives in the same area. Despite being severely hearing-impaired we realised that she was a quick learner, diligent & sincere and trained her in basic jewelry making. She has been working with Savannah Chic for 3 years now, and recently used part of her earnings to send her sister to India for an urgently needed kidney treatment.
