WomenWeave
Designers in more than twenty countries collaborate with the WomenWeave Charitable Trust to create and market bespoke accessories woven by the delicate, skilled hands of over 100 women in Central India. Their products are unique. Many yarns are handspun from organic cottons, dyed with 100% natural dyes and loomed with the utmost care and attention.

WomenWeave, based in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh, India, has supported and developed the role of women in handloom weaving since 2002. WomenWeave’s mission is to work towards overcoming the vulnerability of women who weave on handlooms (either part-time or full-time) and work towards making it a profitable, fulfilling, sustainable, dignified income-earning and life-improving activity.
The primary role of WomenWeave is to create a community of weavers and to connect them with potential customers. By doing they hope to preserve and integrate traditional design and heritage to realise more marketable products; generating selling opportunities and market connections within India and abroad that would otherwise be inaccessible to many of the women working within the weaving community.
Senior weaver Sunita Arande reflects that:

It’s work we love because we’re all together facing the same challenges and sharing the same successes... We don’t know all the places our weaves go in this world, but we know that people everywhere like them very much."
