Key Responsibilities

  • ongoing product line development and review to maintain and expand the quality and range of goods and services sold by SJS, taking input from feedback from customers and other SJS staff :including a specific focus on expanding our artisan groups and suppliers in India 

  • creating sales plans and strategies with SJS directors to meet the companies targets each financial year : owning the achieving of these targets in the business and providing regular reporting on performance to SJS directors 

  • developing budgets and plans for retail operations with SJS directors, and owning the implementing and control of these within the business

  • conduct inventory analysis to determine optimal stock and re-order levels, cost of inventory and any potential losses, developing ongoing strategies for cost control to increase profits

  • carry out surveys and analyse customers’ reactions to all aspects of the SJS product range, including product types, quality, provenance, packaging, price 

  • prepare proposals for merchandising, marketing campaigns, research and promotional activities to drive sales and target specific customer segments

  • handle customer service and supplier queries and issues, including any finance queries or payment issues

  • training and supervising additional sales and operations staff as the company grows 

  • maintain market awareness of products and competitors

 

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • educated to degree level, preferably with a bachelors degree in design , reinforced by hands-on experience in a design environment and business management for at least 6 years post-graduate

  • demonstrable ability to co-ordinate sales operations through from design to product and delivery

  • demonstrable ability in managing and acquiring new suppliers and client accounts, through both direct sales pitching and successful marketing campaigns

  • experience in liasing with, particularly Indian, suppliers in their own language and willing to undertake additional language training for other areas if needed

  • experience in designing and developing new product lines in collaboration with partners, customers and suppliers

  • good computer literacy with both design and business support packages ( Photoshop, Illustrator, MS Office as examples)

  • demonstrable financial acumen in creating sales and margin reports, and maintaining accounting and invoicing records

  • preferably experience of working with women led groups on either a paid or voluntary basis, and demonstrable interest in SJS business mission 

 

Salary package: negotiable dependent on experience
