Founded by Aniqah and Naeema, QÄSA QÄSA is a celebration of the sisters' East African heritage. With a personal passion for amplifying the works of traditional makers, Qasa Qasa blends contemporary homeware with one of a kind pieces. The word QÄSA QÄSA means to inspire, awaken and motivate and by honouring East African artisans, Aniqah and Naeema wish to do exactly this.
QÄSA QÄSA partners with incredible artisans, NGO’s and community groups in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Malawi to design and source unique pieces that are both traditional and modern. As every piece is unique, the stories found in the craftsmanship are what makes up the heart and soul of QÄSA QÄSA. Each item uses local and indigenous materials, celebrating and empowering craftsmanship across East Africa.
The Ugwafu Lustre table mats and trays from QÄSA QÄSA are handwoven by their artisan partners who are based in the post-conflict tri-border areas of Burundi, Rwanda and Tanzania. This artisan partner employs more than 300 rural East African women, some of whom are refugees that have fled conflict.
